I've worn Vibram five-finger shoes since they first came out, owning many pairs over the years, and they remain my favorite. However, there's always a better option, and considering the price, I decided to try these. I think if you don't want to spend a fortune on Vibram, these might be a good choice, but I probably won't wear them often due to a major issue.
Let's start with the pros, as these shoes have many advantages. I think for most people, the pros far outweigh the cons. The most obvious (and direct) advantage is the price. They cost only half to a third of a Vibram, making them a great option if you want to experience the five-finger style. Because they have five separate toes, I also think they're better than those counterfeit Vibrams that piece several toes together to avoid patent leather.
These shoes are also very comfortable, and the sizing is perfect. Some other reviews complained that the shoes run large, especially around the little toe. But that wasn't the case for me. Only the toe area was slightly long; the rest was just right. I have a short toe, so it's not the shoes' fault. I guess most reviews saying the shoes run large are from people who switched directly from regular shoes to these. Regular shoes can leave your feet in an unnatural shape, and it takes time for them to return to their original shape. I bought a size up for this reason when I bought my second pair of Vibram five-finger shoes. I usually wear a size 43 (EU) / 9.5 (US), and I bought a size 9.5 for reference.
The materials look great, especially considering the price. The upper is a woven elastic fabric, but not a sock-like material. I've worn sock-like shoes before, which, as the name suggests, have a rubber sole. These are much more breathable and seem to hold their shape better. The sole has good grip and isn't one-piece molded like sock-like shoes. The sole is also very flexible, allowing for free foot movement.
